PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which can easily form an image on the surface of general paper, metal, plastic, glass, or the like without applying special treatment on the surface, especially a method for obtaining an image high in optical density and excellent in clearness by using an intermediate transfer medium excellent in giving ink absorbency to an ink receiving layer, transparency, preservation properties, and water resistance. SOLUTION: In the image forming method, after the image is formed by using a recording liquid on the image receiving surface of the intermediate transfer medium having at least one porous ink receiving layer containing the micro-capsules of an oily substance on a base material, a body to be transferred and the image receiving surface of the intermediate transfer body are made to face each other, and heated or pressurized, and then the intermediate transfer medium is peeled off from the body to be transferred so that the ink receiving layer is transferred to the body to be transferred. |
