<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively perform the milling of a freely formed surface of a work under the laser beam assistance. SOLUTION: A milling machine comprises a milling unit having a motor- driven work spindle for fitting a milling tool, a work table for tightening the work, a guide and drive mechanism for generating the relative motion between the milling unit and the work table in the three-dimensional direction, and a laser beam device for emitting the laser beam. The milling tool is a spherical head milling cutter, and comprises supporting joints 30 and 32 and drive mechanisms 36 and 38 for generating the precise motion of the laser beam device 12 with one point on the beam axis as a center. The laser beam 14 from the laser beam device 12 is circulated around the axis 48 forming an acute angle relative to the axis of the work spindle 4, and a bearing and drive mechanism for turning and/or rotating the work table 18 around at least one of the axes 22 and 24 is provided.</p> |
