PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for dwarfing a plant, for further detail related to a technique for promoting dwarfing of the plant using a growth retardant gentle to the global environment. SOLUTION: This method for dwarfing a plant is characterized by attaching sodium bicarbonate fine particles or a sodium bicarbonate water solution to the plant so as to wither the growth part of the plant and promote dwarfing for the next generation while keeping the root of the plant alive.
