PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a supporting base for the coils of a metallic sheet and a handling method of the coils of the metallic sheet for reducing damage to the coil of the metallic sheet and facilitating handling. SOLUTION: The length L1 of the supporting member 16 of the supporting base 12 for the coils of the metallic sheet is taken as a specified length so that the supporting member is brought into contact with the coils 82 of an aluminum sheet in the range of not less than a certain rate to the length in the axial direction of the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet and a prescribed clearance 20 is composed between the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet and a base plate 14 in the vicinities of both ends in the axial direction of the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet. Because the partial specific pressure which acts on the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet is limited to not more than a certain value, the deformation and damage of the aluminum sheet of which the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet is composed are prevented. Because the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet can be lifted by inserting a lifting member 86 such as a fork into the clearance 20, the handling of the coil 82 of the aluminum sheet is facilitated.
