PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure a good quality in a cast slab by reducing occurrence ratio of the most serious vertical crack among the surface defect occurring in a continuous casting. SOLUTION: A method for continuously casting molten metal is performed by using continuous casting powder having >=1Ω<-1> cm<-1> electric conductivity in the case of using moving magnetic field in a direction circulating the molten metal in the vertical cross section to the casting direction. As the continuous casting powder, the powder having >=10 mass% as the total of one or more kinds of FeO, CoO, V2 O5 , FeS, Cu2 S and TiO2 and >=0.4 Pa.s viscosity, is desirable to be used.
