PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an objective lens barrel in which the center of the view field is not deviated even when the magnification is switched. SOLUTION: A fitting screw part 23 to be screwed in a revolver supporting screw part and a fitting surface 24 which is abutted on a revolver abutting surface are machined to make the objective lens barrel with an objective lens built therein. A device to manufacture the objective lens barrel comprises a chuck 2 for holding the objective lens barrel 1, a spindle 5 for rotating the chuck 2, an optical system 9 for irradiation of the measurement light on the objective lens in the objective lens barrel, an observation system 14 having a sample 10 disposed on the position at which the measurement light is transmitted through the objective lens and forms an image and capable of observing the image of a spot formed on the sample, a position adjustment mechanism part 4 for adjusting the relative position of the chuck to the spindle so that the position of the sample is agreed with the focal position of the objective lens, and machining tools 16 and 18 for machining the fitting surface of the objective lens barrel held by the chuck with a constant space kept between the sample and the fitting surface of the objective lens barrel, and machining the fitting screw part.
