The invention is an animal trap for catching live animals. It consists of a catch area with an inlet opening which can be opened and closed with the help of a drop door (6). The animal trap is intended for stationary use that is for out of doors all year round. To protect the trap from weather and wind it has been designed so that the drop door (6), in the set position, forms a complete covering over the entire trap. The drop door (6) moves around a turning point (7) positioned on the door's central section. It is balanced so that its foremost section closes the opening at the same time as the rear section rises to a diagonal position relative to the catch area (2). In this position the drop door (6) locks with the help of a spring-pressured loop (8) that assumes a vertical position between the drop door's (6) rear section and the catch area's ceiling (2). The trap is set off through the animal stepping on a treading plate (10) within the catch area. The treading plate (10) activates a trapping rod (11). The trapping pressure can be regulated with the help of an eyebolt (12) affixed to the trapping rod (11) so that the spring (12) partly supports the treading plate's (10) weight.<IMAGE> |
