PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat sensitive recording medium which has a high whiteness level and excellent color developing characteristics and which suppresses color developing of a white part in an environmental resistant test and to provide a reversible heat sensitive recording medium which can execute color developing and achromatizing only according to a difference of heating conditions and which has a high contrast and excellent preservability of an image. SOLUTION: The heat sensitive recording medium comprises a sheet-like support, and a heat sensitive recording layer formed on the support and containing a colorless or pale dye precursor and a developer for color developing in reaction with the precursor at the time of heating in such a manner that as the developer, at least one compound having a structure represented by formula (I) of one type is contained.
