PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can record stably with a minimum velocity change of a carriage by enabling easily applying a large tension of a timing belt without using a spring having a large spring constant and accurately applying a predetermined tension of the timing belt even when the timing belt has a peripheral length irregularity in relation to a tension adjustment mechanism for an endless belt in the recorder for recording at high speed by moving the heavy-weight carriage by the long endless belt. SOLUTION: In order to obtain the large stable belt tension by a spring having a small spring constant, a lever is utilized, so that a force of the spring is amplified and applied to the timing belt. Moreover, in order to accurately apply the predetermined tension of the timing belt by absorbing a distance irregularity between axes of a driving pulley and a driven pulley due to the peripheral length irregularity of the timing belt, a supporting part of the spring is moved to move the driven pulley until the timing belt is eliminated from the slack. A force corresponding to a contraction/shrinkage amount of the spring can be applied to the timing belt by moving the supporting part of the spring further.
