FIELD: working processes in machine engineering, namely combination methods for working outer cylindrical surfaces of parts such as shafts by means of cutting tool and abrasive discs. SUBSTANCE: method comprises steps of rotating shaft whose one end is mounted in spindle of machine tool and whose other end is mounted in guiding sleeve; turning shaft by cutters; after turning finishing shaft by means of abrasive tool having at least three radially moved abrasive discs; imparting lengthwise motion simultaneously to abrasive tool and to cutting tool; using abrasive discs as movable stay and arranging them according to condition of crossing of their rotation axes with shaft rotation axis for transmitting to them (by friction) rotation of shaft. EFFECT: enhanced efficiency and quality of working due to lowered waviness and curvature of worked surface at combination working of shaft by cutter and self-aligned abrasive discs. 2 cl, 1 ex, 5 dwg
