DEGAUSSING APPARATUS AND DISPLAY HAVING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully inhibit color shift and to achieve extremely high picture quality in a display. SOLUTION: The display comprises a cathode ray tube having a color selection electrode 20, and an inner magnetic shield 12 for magnetically shielding electron beams; and a degaussing apparatus for demagnetizing the color selection electrode. The degaussing apparatus comprises first and second degaussing coils 16a and 16b that are arranged at a funnel 14 of the cathode ray tube, first and second AC attenuation current circuits 46a and 46b for generating an AC attenuation current to be applied to each degaussing coil, and a control apparatus 44 for controlling the AC attenuation current circuit.
