PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a noise eliminating circuit that can remarkably reduce the scale of noise reduction processing circuitry, take into account the arrangement of supplied pixels and apply excellent noise reduction processing to received data. SOLUTION: An area read section 220a of a honeycomb median filter section 22a extracts five luminance data 220-228 including luminance data at a target position and surrounding luminance data adjacent to the target luminance data in left/right oblique directions while being divided into real pixel and virtual pixel areas, a median filter section 222a compares all combinations of the luminance data 220-228, selects a median in the magnitudes of the luminance data on the basis of a 10-bit condition obtained by the comparison to smooth the luminance data. Thus, the noise eliminating circuit can enhance a noise reduction effect similarly to that of a conventional filter processing, considerably decreases number of the combinations so as to make the circuit scale small.
