PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device which obtains the most suitable fixability in accordance with kind of toners different by color tones, kind of different sheets, and thickness of different sheets and most suitably keeps the heat value supplied to a form without stopping the fixing work even in the case of lowering of the temperature of a fixing roll in the middle of image output. SOLUTION: The fixing device is provided with a fixing roll which has a heating means in the inside, a pressure roll which is rotated while being pressed to the fixing roll, a pressure means which changes the pressurizing force of the pressure roll, a sheet thickness detection means which is provided upstream of the pair of the fixing roll and the pressure roll in the sheet carrying direction, and a control means, and the control means sets the temperature of the fixing roll and the pressurizing force of the pressure means to the values most suitable for fixing in accordance with kinds of toners different by color tones to be fixed and the thickness of the sheet detected by the thickness detection means.
