PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-transmitting display panel in which a display part with specified tones can be easily formed and which has a light-controlling layer formed by an ink-jet printing method. SOLUTION: Characters or patterns are formed by a release layer 2, produced by printing with water-based ink or the like by conventional printing methods, such as screen printing on one surface of a light transmitting substrate 1, consisting of acrylic resin, polycarbonate resin or the like. Then a light-shielding layer 3 for shielding the region except for the characters or figures is formed by gravure printing or the like. Then a pressure-sensitive adhesive tape is stuck to the surface of the light-shielding layer in the part corresponding to the release layer and the tape is pulled to peel the release layer from the surface and to remove the release layer and the light-shielding layer formed on the surface of the release layer to form a display part 4. Then display layers 5a, 5b are formed by using heat transfer foils, to manufacture the light-transmitting display panel.
