Tire has radial carcass reinforcement and additional crown reinforcement of overlapping layers (15-18) with reinforcing elements (steel cables) set at angles of between 10 and 35 deg to the circumferential direction. The crown reinforcement is completed on each side of the median circumferential plane by at least two additional half-layers (19, 20). Half-layers have crossing non-stretch metal reinforcing elements at smaller angles to the median circumferential plane than the main crown reinforcing layers, and one overlaps the broadest of the main layers.
