PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image pickup device such as a monitor camera and a gastro camera which use a wide-angle lens, and which does not require an expensive and heavy wide-angle lens nor a circuit for correcting the distortion on an image when the lens is used, and to facilitate controlling of the viewing angle of the gastoro camera. SOLUTION: A solid-state image pickup device has a configuration in which photoelectric conversion elements are arrayed and formed in one-or two- dimension on a spherical or semispherical semiconductor. The photoelectric conversion element and a coil are arrayed and formed on the spherical semiconductor. The coil is applied with a current, and the rotation and movement of the spherical semiconductor are controlled by externally controlling a magnetic field.
