PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that in a disk unit which holds the edge of a disk with a guide member and a transport means, and carries the disk in, a detecting means does not normally operate, and the completion of an operation may not be detected even when a clamp operation is completed in the case that the diameter of the disk is smaller than that of a standard. SOLUTION: When a drive unit 50 moves a disk D at a position where the disk D is clamped, two detection switches 31 and 32 are turned on together. When the disk smaller than the standard is inserted, the detection switches 31 and 32 are not turned ON together. At the time, a detection operation is carried out by operating a setting motor M to slightly narrow an opposing space between the guide member 11 and the transport means 20.
