PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless discharge lamp lighting device with excellent appearance, not shaded, and capable of efficiently leading a high-frequency electromagnetic field generated by an induction coil into a discharge gas sealed inside a bulb. SOLUTION: This device comprises a transmissive bulb 1 with the discharge gas sealed inside; a core 2 disposed inside the bulb 1; a core 3 provided outside the bulb 1; the induction coil 4 wound around the core 3, generating the high-frequency electromagnetic field by carrying high-frequency current from a high-frequency power source; a matching circuit 5 matching the high-frequency power source and the induction coil 4 to efficiently supply high-frequency current to the induction coil 4 from the high-frequency power source; a case 6 storing the core 3, the induction coil 4 and the matching circuit 5; and a base 7 for supplying electric power to the induction coil 4 and the matching circuit 5. Free ends 2a and 3a are disposed such that both ends 2a, 3a face each other, while an open end 2b and a free end 3b are disposed such that both the open and release ends 2b, 3b face each other. |
