<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a road-vehicle communication system with high reliability. SOLUTION: In a camera system 10, a communication apparatus 22 for transmitting the vehicle registration number of a vehicle 20 to the outside is incorporated into a number plate 21 on the back of the vehicle 20 so that the apparatus does not easily break down. The vehicle registration number transmitted from the communication apparatus 22 in a communication area T is received with the antenna 30 of the travel road side of the vehicle 20. A first vehicle detection sensor 40 detects that the trailing end part 20b of the vehicle 20 has passed the termination position of the communication area T. Thus, the communication apparatus 22 is considered to have passed through the termination position of the communication area T. When the vehicle registration number from the communication apparatus 22 is not received even if the passage of the trailing end part 20b of the vehicle 20 through the termination position of the communication area T is detected, the vehicle 20 is photographed. Then the vehicle registration number displayed on a number plate 23 is extracted from picture data and the vehicle 20 is specified.</p> |
