<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a congestion control method and device for a cell-switched data switch for determining the uniform discard and preservation of cells belonging to the same data packet. SOLUTION: In this congestion control method and device in a cell-switched data switch, the switch attaches a tag having a discard processing indicator, such as a characteristic random number to all cells which belong to the same packet. At determining which cells are to be dropped at executing of a congestion control algorithm, such as RED, the switch compares the discard processing indicator of the cells with a discard criterion, and drops only the cells that conform with the discard criterion.</p> |
