<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide toner particles having superior solid state properties as an electrostatic latent image developing toner for electrophotography, electrostatic recording, electrostatic printing, etc., and to provide a method for manufacturing the toner particles. SOLUTION: The method includes (a) a step for dispersing a particulate resin having a functional group which interacts with a dye having a functional group in an organic medium which does not dissolve the resin, (b) a step for providing the dye having a functional group which interacts with the functional group of the particulate resin to the organic medium, (c) a step for keeping the organic medium containing the particulate resin and the dye in a warmed state for a sufficient time to dye the particulate resin and (d) a step for separating the particulate resin from the organic medium. In the step for introducing the dye into the particulate resin, the particle diameter and particle size distribution of the particulate resin do not substantially vary. Since the resulting toner particles have a rough surface structure, they have excellent electrostatic charge characteristics and are useful for an electrophotographic system.</p> |
