PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position monitoring system for finding that a child has strayed from its parents or that an automobile is moved from its watcher to keep a worst case from occurring. SOLUTION: The monitoring system for monitoring the positional relation between a master terminal and slave terminals by a monitoring center is provided with the slave terminals, each transmitting its positional information to the monitoring center in response to a command from the monitoring center or at prescribed time intervals, the master terminal transmitting its positional information to the monitoring center in response to a command from the monitoring center or at prescribed time intervals and broadcasting an emergency upon receiving an emergency signal from the monitoring center, and the monitoring center transmitting an emergency signal to the master terminal when the relation between the master terminal and a slave terminal meet with a prescribed condition on the basis of the positional information received from the master terminal and the positional information received from the salve terminal.
