PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide electric discharge cell structure that can maintain main electric discharge while suppressing erroneous electric discharge in a plasma display device. SOLUTION: This plasma display device is formed with an electric discharge cell 0 filled with dischargeable gas between a pair of boards 4, 5 jointed to each other, and further provided with three electrodes 1, 2, 3 for carrying out the display drive of the electric discharge cell 0. The pressure of the gas filled in the electric discharge cell 0, and the arrangement of the electrodes 1, 2, 3 of the electric discharge cell 0, are optimized to allow electric discharge required for the display drive among the electrodes 1, 2, 3 while suppressing electric discharge unnecessary for the display drive. The electrodes 1, 2 are formed at the board 5, and the electrode 3 is formed at the board 4. The gas pressure and the height d of the electric discharge cell which specifies the distance between the electrodes 1, 2 and the electrode 3, are optimized to allow electric discharge required between the electrodes 1, 2 while suppressing unnecessary electric discharge between the electrodes 1, 2 and the electrode 3.
