PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glove-shaped input device to enable the recognition of handprint of a sign language by simple and inexpensive structure. SOLUTION: In a device at least having a contact detecting means to be provided at places corresponding to prescribed regions of fingers and/or a hand and to detect presence/absence of other regions to the applicable regions and to judge the shape of the fingers and/or the hand to be formed by a user at least based on a contact detection signal obtained from the contact detecting means, the contact detecting means is constituted of a plurality of coils (23a to 23e, 24) to be alternately excited and an output means (26) to generate intrinsic outputs by every coil according to contact between regions in which the coils are arranged and other regions. Furthermore, the device can be provided with a bend detecting means to detect bends of the fingers and a pressures detecting means to detect contact pressure. In addition, the device can be provided with a pressure sense presenting means.
