PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost lead-acid battery having a long service life. SOLUTION: This control valve lead-acid battery uses a battery jar 8a with an opening 11, wherein a side face 13 and an upper face 12 provided with a terminal of the lead-acid battery are integrally formed. In the size of the battery jar 8a in the layering direction of an electrode plate group 10, the opening 11 is set larger than the upper face 12 provided with the terminal. The battery is manufactured by inserting the electrode plate group 10 into the battery jar 8a and welding a bottom lid 9a to the opening 11.
