PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for designating a remote copy object at a file or a directory level smaller than the unit of volume. SOLUTION: When a host computer submits a file write request to a NAS (network attached storage) a, the NASa refers to a copy object NAS of each entry in a copy object table and a copy object path, determines whether or not the file of write object is the remote copy object, and, if the file is determined to be the remote copy object, remotely copies the file of the write object to the copy destination path for a copy destination NAS.
