PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a user to make a communication with specified persons carrying terminals by eliminating inconvenience of carrying terminals in a private branch communication system capable of communicating with terminals carried by individual users. SOLUTION: A private branch exchange 1 for supervising connection and switching between a line wire and a private line is connected to a plurality of private PHS(Personal Handyphone System) base stations 2 and so on by wire. A long-range radio communication is made between the base stations 2 disposed at various places in a premise and radio ID cards 3 carried by individual persons by a PHS function. A short-range radio communication is made between the ID cards 3 and extension Bluetooth (R) telephone terminals 4 disposed at the various places in the premise by a Bluetooth function. Thus, private talking is made using the telephone sets 4 via the ID cards 3.
