PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller capable of remote-controlling all apparatus in an integrated way, irrespective of the type of products or models depending on manufacturers. SOLUTION: The remote controller takes in an image of an apparatus under control from an imaging unit (S101) and stores it in a memory as an identifying image. The controller is connected to the Internet and accesses a home page of a data down load service for the controller to display an apparatus select screen (S103). It selects an apparatus to be registered by a user (S104) and down loads LCD display information of the selected apparatus, button-signal corresponding information and IR signal format information from the home page of the data down load service for the controller and stores them in the memory (S105). Then, using LCD display information corresponding to the apparatus, it indicates operating buttons, etc., for the apparatus on a touch panel and generates IR signals corresponding to the operated buttons.
