PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a time series data compressing method for dynamically and easily setting the compressibility of time series data according to events such as alarms and operations related with the time series data without depending on initial setting and a time series data storing device using this method. SOLUTION: In this time series data compressing method for compressing time series data by thinning out the time series data according to events such as alarms or operations related with the time series data to be generated as necessary, a reference value corresponding to the kind of the event related with the respective time series data for judging whether or not the time series data should be erased is calculated, and the data to be erased among the time series data are decided according to the judgment reference preliminarily decided based on the reference value calculated for the respective data so that the time series data can be compressed.
