Compositions containing; (a) a fluorinated compound with a group in which a sulfur, selenium or carbon atom is attached to 1 or 2 oxygen atoms (1 in the case of carbon) and a tert.-hydrocarbyl, oxy-hydrocarbyl or sec. amino group; and (b) a basic system containing (or capable of generating) an alcoholate. Compositions comprising (for successive or simultaneous addition) (a) compound(s) of formula Rf-Z(O)n-Y (I); and (b) a basic system containing (or capable of generating) an alcoholate. Rf = a fluoro-organic group; Z = sulfur, selenium or carbon; Y = OR, NR'R or R; R, R', R = hydrocarbyl, with the proviso that R has no hydrogen atoms on the carbon linked to Z; n = 1 or 2 (if Z = carbon, n is always = 1) |
