PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system that can prevent deterioration in communication quality of short distance wireless communication caused by the environment, under which a mobile information terminal is in operation and to provide the mobile information terminal used in the communication system. SOLUTION: A mobile information terminal 201 is provided with a wireless section 210 that has antennas 211, 212, 213, and conducts short distance wireless communication, a wireless communication module 214 that detects the reception levels of the antennas 211, 212, 213, and a total control section 220 that controls the short distance wireless communication conducted with the wireless section 210. The total control section 220 makes the radio section 210 to conduct the short-distance radio communication by using the antennas 211, 212, 213, makes the wireless communication module 214 to detect reception levels of each of the antennas 211, 212, 213 and further allows the radio section 210 to continue the short distance radio communication by using an antenna with the highest reception level.
