PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron emission device suitable for electron emission in a low electric field by utilizing the fine shape of an electron emission part formed by use of a porous material having fine pores. SOLUTION: This electron emission device comprises electron emission parts 4 such as carbon nanotubes substantially electrically connected to a cathode electrode 1, which are formed or inserted in pores 3 formed on a porous layer 2 on the cathode electrode 1, with the pitch of the electron emission parts being large, compared with the pitch of the pores so that the adjacent electron emission parts keep a distance. In the state where two or more porous layers differed in pitch of pores are laminated, the electron emission parts are formed only in common pores, whereby the device can be easily manufactured. When the porous layer is an alumina film obtained by anodic oxidation of aluminum, the trouble that a sufficient electric field concentration cannot be obtained because the larger the diameter of pores, the larger the pitch of pores can be solved.
|
