PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display capable of performing constant sustenance discharge by reducing the effects of adjacent display cells. SOLUTION: In this plasma display device, a plurality of first display electrodes and a plurality of second display electrodes are arranged in parallel with each other, and also a plurality of address electrodes are arranged, so as to interest the first and second display electrodes. When sustenance discharge is conducted between the first display electrode and the second display electrode, by applying an anode potential (Vsa) to the electrode of one side of the first and second display electrodes and by applying a cathode potential (Vsb) to the electrode of the other side of them, a potential (GND), which is lower than the anode potential and moreover higher than the cathode potential, is applied to the first and second display electrodes which are adjacent to the first and second display electrodes performing the sustenance discharge.
