PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and accurately detect non-image parts above and under the screen, exclude an undesired image and maximally display the valid image on the screen. SOLUTION: The screen is divided into a plurality of detection areas, image data are extracted from them, a valid data presence area is detected on the basis of a valid pixel start position by each line in each detection area, number of valid pixel data, a valid line start position by each detection area and number of valid lines, processing of magnifying or reducing the detected area is repeated, the border of the detection area is converged to a border of a video area in the screen, parts in absence of valid data are eliminated to reduce the areas, rearranged at proper positions on the screen and the video area is magnified and buried.
