PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power supply which can reduce power consumption in a drive circuit. SOLUTION: This power supply comprises a smoothing capacitor for smoothing impulse outputted from a rectifying circuit, a control circuit for controlling a switch element which turns ON and OFF a current flowing to an inductance element provided in the output side of the smoothing capacitor, a drive circuit for supplying a drive voltage to drive the control circuit when it is driven, a current limiting element for limiting a rush current flowing into the smoothing capacitor when it is driven, a switch for switching operation and non-operation of the drive circuit and current limiting element, and a drive detection element for controlling operation of the switch by detecting the drive of control circuit.
