PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage system in consideration of the attributes (performance and cost), the operating rate and the data usage frequency of the storage device in a storage area network constituted of a plurality of the storage devices that have different attributes and are used in a business pattern of a storage service provider or the like. SOLUTION: The information processing system is provided with a location management means for managing the location of data stored in the storage device, an information replication means for replicating data between the storage devices, and an attribute holding means for holding information representing the attribute of each storage device. The location management means is so constituted as to use the information replication means to replicate and move the data between the storage devices based on the operating rate of, the data usage status of, control information on and the accounting information on the storage device.
