1,005,033. Stud fastenings; clip fastenings. F. T. PRODUCTS Ltd. Aug. 10, 1962 [Aug. 22, 1961], No. 30319/61. Heading E2B. [Also in Division F2] A hollow pin, extending from a bore 19 in the head of a rivet of synthetic resin, breaks away from the rivet when depressed and slides into a shank comprising an annular wall which is thus spread outwardly, Fig. 5, since the external diameter of the pin is greater than the narrowest transverse dimension of the hollow of the shank. The narrowest portion of the hollow may be near the open end of the shank as at 17 in Fig. 4, or at the opposite end, Fig. 7 (not shown), where the pin and shank are initially joined, or between opposed ribs, Fig. 9 (not shown), formed on the inner surface of the shank. The inner surface of the shank may have longitudinal grooves, Fig. 8 (not shown), to form weakened portions which split when the pin is depressed. The pin may be joined by vanes 18 to the rivet head or to its shank, Figs. 6, 7 (not shown). The head may be formed to hold a cable or it may secure strip beading 20, Fig. 5. Specification 1,005,034 is referred to. |
