<p>There is disclosed a system and method for carrying out a combined crushing and screening operation on a supply of bulk raw material, and utilising a crusher (10) and a self-propelled screening plant (12) to receive a supply of crushed material from the crusher via an input end (11) of the plant; in which the input end (11) of the screening plant (12) includes a preliminary screening unit (11a) which operates to separate over-sized crushed material and to direct the remainder of the material to a screen box (16a, 16b) of the plant; and a conveyor unit (30) cooperates with the screening plant (12) to receive over-sized material from the preliminary screening unit (11a) and operates a) to discharge the over-sized material to a stockpile and/or b) to recycle the material to the crusher (10) for further crusher material. The conveyor unit (30) is capable of being coupled with the screening plant via lockable lift arms (27) and cooperating housing (29) when they work together, to form a composite assembly which can be manoeuvred on site when required (with support legs (13) of the conveyor unit (30) in the raised position), or of working together in a screening mode when the legs (13) will re-engage the ground. The coupling also can be uncoupled, to allow the conveyor unit (30) to be an independent freestanding unit.</p> |
