The chain link (2) has a cutout (23) filled with an encapsulating material (5). The antenna (46) and a carrier plate (43) are buried in the material. A battery (44) and a data store (45) are accommodated under the carrier plate. The strain gauge (41) is sandwiched between a separating plate (42) and the bottom of the cutout.
