Disclosed is a novel method for producing pyrone derivatives of general formula (I), wherein X1 means halogen-methyl, whereby an acetoacetic acid derivative of general formula (II), wherein X1 has the aforementioned meaning and X2 means chlorine or bromine, is treated with Lewis acid and is subsequently converted into the desired product by means of water.
