The method for synchronization of data exchange between a data source (3-5) and a control unit (1) via a bus system. The transmission of a synchronization signal by a data source; receipt of a corresponding response signal; measurement of the time difference between the two events; determination of a time of flight; and adjustment of a transmission delay time dependent on the time of flight so that data to be transmitted is sent with a calculated delay time. An Independent claim is made for a bus system with a control unit for controlling data communication on the bus system with one or more data sources.
