A multifunction semiconductor storage device, which is connected to the host computer system with a general purpose interface, comprising: a semiconductor storage medium module (1) and a control unit module (2), wherein said control unit module (2) comprises a general purpose interface control module (21), a microprocessor and a control module (22), for realizing a variety of protocols for device, simulating and implementing the memory functions of various memory discs. One or more memory space is configurated in said semiconductor storage medium, for supporting one or more kinds of memory discs in the same device. Said multifunction semiconductor storage device can be hot plugged and portable.
