High temperature superconductor comprises a stoichiometric compound containing silicon and boron. High temperature superconductor comprises a stoichiometric compound with SiBx where x = 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a process for producing a high temperature superconductor by incorporating boron as an impurity in high concentration in pure silicon using a doping process; and (b) a high temperature superconductor produced by the above process. Preferred Features: Polycrystalline SiBx phases are formed by solid body reactions during the doping process.
