Water-based color preparation with organic or inorganic pigment and/or organic dye contains 0.01-80 wt% water-soluble dispersant based on a polymethacrylate ester-polyethylene oxide block copolymer with no acid groups. A water-based color preparation contains: (A) 0.1-50 wt% of at least one organic pigment, inorganic pigment and/or organic dye; (B) 0.01-80 wt% water-soluble dispersant(s) based on polymethacrylate ester-polyethylene oxide block copolymer(s) with no acid groups; (C) 0-30 wt% organic solvent(s); (D) 0-20 wt% other additives; and (E) 10-90 wt% water.
