The mirror (1) may be rectangular with rounded corners, and consists of a transparent sheet of glass (3) silvered on the back. In the region of the clock display the silvering on the back is replaced by a transparent electrode. There is a pigment layer behind it, followed by an isolation layer and a set of rear electrodes forming a pattern. The assembly displays variable alphanumeric symbols (10-14).
