Reagents which regulate human ephrin-like receptor and reagents which bind to human ephrin-like receptor gene products can play a role in preventing, ameliorating, or correcting neurodegenerative disorders, including but not limited to, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Huntington's chorea, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and other neuropathies, including regeneration of neurons or in survival of neurons after trauma or stroke. Regulation of human ephrin-like receptor function also can be used to increase or decrease cell proliferation, for example to treat cancer or other hyperproliferative diseases.
