1,260,334. Treating waste water. SVENSKA INTERPUR A.B. 3 April, 1969 [24 April, 1968; 23 Oct., 1968], No. 17570/69. Heading C1C. A plant for the biological treatment of waste water includes areas which support microorganisms and are displaceable into and out of the waste water. The waste water is fed to a settling well (61), Fig. 1 (not shown), and through openings (63) into a tank (64). Floating devices (65), (66) each having an apertured stem (110), Fig. 5 (not shown), with an apertured tubular insert (114) control the flow of the waste water from the tank (64) into troughs 80, 81 arranged in a tank 79 and each containing a purifying assembly comprising a plurality of helically arranged microorganism supporting plates 69 which may be of plastics or metal and provided with coarse surfaces. The plates 69 are secured to flexible rubber etc., belts 70, 71 driven by rollers 72-75 and electric motors 76, 77. Treated water flows through openings 82, 83 in troughs 80, 81 into a sieve 84 which returns sludge to the settling well (61) via a conduit (86) and clarified water to filters (91), (92), Fig. 3 (not shown), via further troughs 87-90 which may contain sand or activated carbon. One assembly may be arranged within the other, Fig. 6 (not shown), and the pitch of the helix of one assembly may be greater than that of the other and variable along its length.
|
