The device for the holding and unwinding of sheet-form material from an upright roll has a cylindrical center axis (3) vertically installed on a base component (7) which is constructed as a funnel-form holder (5), the inner face of which in cross section forms an isosceles triangle, and has a flat plane top surface. The opening angle (4) of the holder is such that a roll of material stands exclusively by its lower circular outer edge on the inner face of the holder from the beginning to the end of an unwinding process.
