A binder composition (I) containing (A) at least 10 wt% retarded polysaccharide particles (or mixtures of these) also contains (B) at least 3 wt% natural and/or synthetic layered silicate particles (or mixtures of these). Independent claims are also included for (1) adhesive preparations containing 20 wt% water and at least 1 wt% (I). (2) a method for the production of adhesive preparations by mixing (I) with water.
