OPTICAL DISC REPRODUCTION METHOD AND OPTICAL DISC REPRODUCTION APPARATUS

An optical disc reproduction method capable of reducing the time between the moment the optical disc is inserted and the moment the optical disc enters a reproducible stand−by state. The optical disc reproduction method includes steps of reading out a parameter from a non−volatile memory and determining whether the optical disc can be correctly reproduced according to the parameter read out. When the parameter determines that the optical disc cannot be reproduced correctly, focus search, reflection level detection, tracking error signal amplitude measurement, and the like are performed to the optical disc and a new parameter is identified according to this. The new parameter is stored in a non−volatile memory.
